Heavy Vehicle Use Tax

The IRS return for trucks of 55,000 lb or more. You need the stamped Schedule 1 to register or renew plates.

Who needs it: Owners of vehicles with a taxable gross weight of 55,000 lb or more that run on public highways.
When: Every year for the July 1 to June 30 period, due August 31. A new truck is due by the last day of the month after its first use.
What we need from you: EIN, VIN and taxable gross weight of each truck, and the month of first use.
If you skip it: No stamped Schedule 1, so no registration at the DMV, plus IRS penalties and interest.
